Swimming in a Digital Ocean

There’s a rising tide of photos, bookmarks, emails and music files in my desktop home computer. Turns out I’m not alone. According to CEA’s March 2008 consumer research study ‘Amassing Digital Fortunes: A Digital Storage Study’ U.S. online adults own an average of nearly 1,800 digital files each, for a total of 310 billion nation-wide. Yikes!
And here’s another sad confession, though I know how to do it, I rarely back up digital files at home. That’s a common practice as well. 52 percent of the study’s respondents said they don’t have a second copy of their digital files. Thirty percent said they don’t see the need, and another 22 percent say it takes too much time.
If you’re looking to modify your behavior, there are self-help quizzes and cures aplenty. But, if your business involves offering hapless consumers a life preserver, check out the study (available free to CEA members or for purchase by non-members) for yourself.

I work for a company that offers a free service to consumers needing help finding certian electronics products and new and used cars. I get very frustrated at most shopping web sites because products are usually just ranked by price and unless you know a lot about the product, it is hard to figure out what the best one is. Does anyone else have this challenge?
