Here’s the story of a lovely lady…
By Megan Pollock
CEA is partnering with America’s favorite TV mom, Florence Henderson, for our Convert Your Mom DTV transition awareness campaign. Florence is best known as Mrs. Carol Brady on the 1970s TV series “The Brady Bunch.” But why Florence? Why convert your mom?
Because moms know best! And whose mom was cooler than Mrs. Brady? She was smart, sweet, you never saw her yell even though she looked kind of annoyed in one episode when Marcia climbed out the bedroom window after being grounded.
So, we thought what better way to get the message out to all kids (young and old) than to have the great and wise Mrs. Brady – Florence Henderson - as our spokesperson for the DTV transition.
Convert Your Mom encourages people to share their knowledge with their family and friends who may not yet know about the transition. The message is simple: if you watch TV over-the-air on an analog set, before February 2009 you will need to make a choice:
· Subscribe to pay-TV
· Buy a NEW TV that has a digital tuner inside (and all do, now)
· Or, get an inexpensive converter box to keep receiving free over-the-air TV channels.
This campaign is not just about your mom. While Mrs. Brady is a great way to spread the word, we think it is important to educate everyone from your mom and dad to your grandparents and elderly neighbors, to Sam, the butcher and Alice the housekeeper. So, keep your eyes peeled as we rev up the campaign around Mother’s, Father’s and Grandparent’s Day.
And don’t forget, a converter box is a great way to say “I love you” this season.
