Market Opportunities in Eastern Europe

Consumers around the world are falling in love with the newest technologies and gadgets (and I’m definitely one of them). In fact, the global love affair with consumer technology accounted for more than $600 billion in worldwide CE product sales last year.

And where does the world first witness the latest consumer technology innovations? You guessed it – the International CES.

CES isn’t called ‘International’ for nothing. The 2008 show attracted 141,150 attendees – and 28,000 came from outside the U.S. Not to mention the more than 2,700 global technology companies exhibiting on the show floor.

To keep the international momentum of CES moving, CEA’s own Karen Chupka, senior vice president of events and conferences, traveled to Prague and Budapest recently with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to meet with key industry folks, trade media and government officials about the show.

Not only is the global consumer technology market strong , but the Eastern European CE market, in particular, is definitely on the rise. As economic growth in the region increases, this will definitely become a key technology marketplace. And will, of course, remain an important target market for the International CES.
