Digital Dilemma
May 27, 2008 |I got my first digital camera my freshman year of college and since then have taken hundreds, maybe even thousands of pictures. CEA Market Research shows the average U.S. adult owns 531 digital photos totaling 99 billion digital photos around the country. What to do with all these files other than let them sit on your camera’s memory card can become quite the dilemma.
I store all my photos on my laptop and have my screensaver set to run a slideshow of pictures from my photo library. I also still like to have “real” photos so I print out my favorites for albums and frames using my photo printer. Most of my photos are on my iPod Touch too so I can have them with me anywhere.
In an effort to find out what others are doing with their digital pictures I decided to check out the blogosphere.
- Digital photo frames seemed to be a common theme – especially as gifts. There are even services available that allow you to upload photos to the frame before having it shipped off to someone for those who won’t be satisfied with just the frame.
- Many people use photo sharing Web-hosted sites such as Flickr or Snapfish to upload, store and share their pictures. You can also order prints and other collectibles on these sites.
- Another poster suggested starting a new business venture by creating photo purses.
- This idea honestly scared me a bit, but apparently there is a market out there for digital photo urns for pets.
- Check out these digital image resources from ReadWriteWeb. These include digital collections from universities, libraries, historical societies, and other organizations. What a great resource to share!
Clearly people have all sorts of different ways of displaying their digital photos. What do you do with yours?
