Happy First Day of Summer

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, today – June 20 is the first day of summer 2008.
Being a Las Vegas (home of the International CES) native, I have desert blood, meaning that summer is my absolute favorite season.
This year, I had the opportunity to jump start my summer festivities in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Although, the weather was a bit chilly on most days, Cannon Beach was a breath-taking vacation spot with unimaginable views of the ocean, fresh water rivers, seaside cliffs and of course amazing sunsets. Aside from hiking and exploring the Oregon coast, my family and I also had the opportunity to check out the Cannon Beach Sand Castle Competition.
We had a blast!! I have never seen sand sculpted in such ways, nor did I even know it was possible! I excessively took more than 350 digital pictures during this trip and am currently in the process of loading them to Shutterfly to share with friends. The trip made me realize just how thankful I am for technology and for the option to take pictures on my phone and send to the friends who couldn’t wait the two days it might have taken me to load once I got home.
I wasn’t alone in my camera-happy ways; people all around the beach were spotted with cameras in hand, no doubt sending their photos off to loved ones anxiously awaiting the play by play scenario of the sand castle competition.
As summer begins to shine its way into my life I am thankful for the technology that enables me to share my summer adventures with the ones I love – my digital camera, cell phone, photo share web sites and of course e-mail.
