Hand-Me-Down Blues?
This morning I felt like the proverbial little old lady being helped across the street by a Boy Scout. An
MP3 player’s controls were less intuitive than I’d imagined so a co-worker had to talk me through the volume and the power on/off controls. Geesh. A minute was all it took, but still, how embarrassing. Next time I’ll use the Digital Tip’s site on MP3 players before pleading for help.
I acquire my child’s cast-off electronics as a matter of course. Until her iTouch arrived in June, I’d been listening to her c. 2002 Shuffle. Being bumped up to a Nano is what threw me a curve. Similarly, switching to a new-to-me PC next month is likely to take some adjusting. And it’s likely I’ll need to find a recycling center for the old PC.
Again, not something to worry about given CEA’s MyGreenElectronics database.
Come to think of it, as she heads off to college next month, I might have Emma take on the cast-off analog TV set, with a DTV converter box of course, while her dad and I splurge on a HDTV model.
Giving, receiving, recycling, repurposing – tuh-MAY-to, to-mah-toe – it’s all in the family.
