On Thursday afternoon the CEA “America Wins With Trade” bus pulled into the Charlottesville, Virginia, headquarters of Crutchfield, one of the nation’s most pioneering consumer electronics retailers.  Founder Bill Crutchfield and many of his employees welcomed us warmly and enthusiastically.

The county supervisor and executive and broadcast media toured the amazing and legendary warehouse full of a variety of our industry’s products.  I was especially enchanted with their new popcorn machine which is used to transform cornstarch into packing material (which is not only totally biodegradable but also edible). Believed to be the first in the consumer electronics industry, it is green and it eliminated Bill’s number one source of customer complaints.  Plus it will pay for itself in a year!

Bill warmly introduced me and I talked about trade and why Crutchfield was our only Virginia stop.  Bill and Crutchfield are such great leaders in their category.

Bill then gave an amazing perspective on trade.  He held up a video head unit and described the different parts of the world from which each component originates, including chips and software from the U.S.

Great company!  Great stop on the tour!  .
