Yesterday in Denver, trade advocates came together to speak an urgent truth: getting our economy moving requires a strong and positive trade policy.

Speakers including Rep. Gregory Meeks and representatives from the Colorado Governor’s office and the Denver World Trade Center noted that exports are the bright spot of the economy.

The message is clear: trade is not a partisan issue. The fact is that American competitiveness depends on opening new markets for U.S. goods.

One long overdue step is immediate Congressional approval of the Colombian free trade agreement. Our inaction has already cost America over $1 billion in needless tariffs. In today’s dire economic environment, we can’t afford to wait.
