I took a trip home before my final interview here at CEA last July, and opted for the one-hour nonstop flight back over the seven hour drive from Upstate New York the day before my 10 a.m. interview. It was twenty years ago today that a broadcast engineer and I were married in Washington, D.C. In the 1980s, Ben Crutchfield (no relation to the Crutchfield retail group) worked at the National Association of Broadcasters’ Engineering department, steps away from my desk at rival NCTA’s (National Cable and Telecommunications Association) Science and Technology department. Ten days ago, my college friends and I embarked on a cross-country road trip that took us from D.C. to the Oregon Coast. We had been planning this trip for almost a decade, so needless to say, we were excited to finally see the sights.
