Q: Where’s the Sergeant Pepper reference?

It was twenty years ago today that a broadcast engineer and I were anniversary married in Washington, D.C. In the 1980s, Ben Crutchfield (no relation to the Crutchfield retail group) worked at the National Association of Broadcasters’ Engineering department, steps away from my desk at rival NCTA’s (National Cable and Telecommunications Association) Science and Technology department. We had similar responsibilities so it was inevitable that we would exchange the books we’d created – NCTA Technical papers and the NAB Engineering Handbook – and, not so inevitable, fall in love and get married. Happy Anniversary Ben!

Small world department, the CEA Research Library where I’m one of a crack three-person team, will celebrate the 23rd anniversary of its founding on the same day – September 17th. No library stereotypes apply – we don’t shush visitors, sensible shoes are optional, and one of us is a drummer in a rock band. CEA members and staff rely on us to track down elusive stats, trends, and a host of hidden market intelligence tidbits. And yes, we are research librarian rock stars. Check out the FAQs to learn more. And the answer to the title question – A: in the first six words of the blog. Bonus points if you can finish the rest of the lyrics.
