Tough Travels

Colleen Lerro By Colleen Lerro

I took a trip home before my final interview here at CEA last July, and opted for the one-hour nonstop flight back over the seven hour drive from Upstate New York the day before my 10 a.m. interview. Naturally my flight was canceled so it took me two flights and nine hours to get back, and my luggage didn’t make it at all. More upsetting than not having my hair dryer and straightener (anyone who has experienced D.C. humidity can feel my pain) was that I had put my laptop and cell phone chargers in my checked luggage also.

After just several minutes of feeling completely isolated I headed off to the Apple and AT&T stores to charge my electronics so I could print out my offer letter and call my friends and family to let them know I had my first post-college job!

Travel hassles are so common these days; it’s almost a surprise when things go smoothly. Many look for alternatives to flying but when it’s unavoidable you can always read a book, use the time to get work done or even stay connected while in the air.

I use electronics to make my travels easier, and always pack all chargers in my carry-on now! I load movies onto my iPod and bring my laptop along to surf the net while waiting in the airport. CE accessories can make your trip easier no matter which mode of travel you choose.

Let me know your woeful travel stories, and what you do to survive the long hours in the air or on the road.
