The CES New York Press Preview featuring CES Unveiled@NY took place last Tuesday and the day kicked off with some extraordinary announcements about the 2009 International CES!

2k9CESUNV_NYC_07 In case you haven’t heard yet, Steve Mosko of Sony Pictures announced that they will shoot (live-to-tape) 11 episodes of Jeopardy live on the show floor to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, news I delivered to my family only to be met with envious gasps and glares. To make it even more spectacular, Sony will use CES to reveal the brand new Jeopardy set.

2k9CESUNV_NYC_14 NBC Universal’s Chief Digital Officer George Kliavkoff took the stage to share the news that NBC Universal will again be the “Official Broadcast Partner” of CES and that both their broadcast and cable entities will be broadcasting live from the show floor in January. Viewers everywhere will be able to capture the excitement that is the International CES when they view NBC content on their TVs, computers, and mobile devices.

Next up, Noel Lee, Head Monster of Monster Cable drew great applause when he announced legendary Motown, pop and blues singer and super diva Diana Ross as the musical act for the annual Monster Bash. Only Noel could have coaxed the iconic Ms. Ross from her retirement.

The 2009 show will continue to bridge technology and content, a natural relationship that I as a consumer am delighted to see coming together.

The 2009 International CES Best of Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering award honorees were also announced at the press preview. Many of the honorees then took the floor at CES Unveiled to show off the concepts and creations that earned them top Innovations honors. These included: Aliph, AMD, Audiovox Corp., Burton Technologies LLC, Cernium Corp., Dish Network, iHearSafe LLC, INADA Massage Chairs, Motorola, Navigon, ooma Inc., Optoma Technology Inc., The Neat Co., Universal Remote Control and Zoombak, along with Best of Innovations winners: Callpod Inc., Samsung Semiconductor Inc. and Samsung Telecommunications America.

2009 Innovations Honorees demonstrated their products and technologies for members of the press attending the event in NY.

Any stress from working the events of the day was instantly relieved from just a few moments in the INADA Massage Chair which didn’t miss a spot of soothing massage action. With my teenage brother so close to getting his license, I found zoombak personal GPS locators particularly impressive and I’m sure my parents will too! The device allows users to easily find the whereabouts of vehicles, people, pooches and more with just a click.

Check out a full list of the Innovations honorees online online and see the “Best of the Best” products on display at CES Unveiled: The Official Press Event of the International CES from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, in the Marco Polo Ballroom at the Sands/Venetian and throughout the show in the Grand Lobby of the LVCC. And if you’re fortunate enough to be attending CES, plan to spend some time at the Innovations Showcase at the Sands and Expo Convention Center, Booth #70621, where you can view all of the honorees’ products.
