CES Celebrity Sightings
December 18, 2008 |It’s a given that if you’re planning to visit the 2009 International CES in Las Vegas next month, you’re excited to see the latest and greatest technology products, new trends and emerging technologies as well as partaking of the great networking and educational events. Basically, all the really cool electronics stuff, including some you didn’t even know existed. But there are other reasons that seasoned CE veterans and industry newbies alike make the annual pilgrimage to Lost Wages. No, not the great food, unrivalled gambling opportunities and amazing shows… It’s all about the stars baby!
There’s always been an unspoken competition among the French-blue-shirted CEA staff to see who scores the most (and best) celebrity sightings during the week or so we spend in the city of dreams. Sure, in past years people have lined up for hours to get into the Bill Gates keynote to hear what new products and applications Bill would reveal. But there’s always that electricity in the air over which celebs he’ll bring onstage. Last year it was Slash who rocked it with Gates in a Guitar Hero III contest. You might want to check out our flickr pics from past CES’s which include among others: Conan O’Brien, Alicia Keys, Robert Redford, Yoko Ono, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Gwen Stefani, Quincy Jones, Joan Jett… and the list goes on.
You can check out the list of celebrities who are scheduled to be at the upcoming CES and, as always, be prepared to see other (unscheduled) famous faces, either onstage or occasionally just walking around. My must-see’s this year include a couple of Motown legends, Stevie Wonder (in the Stevie Wonder and Friends Tech Zone) and Diana Ross (at the Monster Party) and I’ll definitely visit the Jeopardy set at the Sony Pictures booth to catch a glimpse of Alex Trebek. Last year an unexpected highlight for me was having Dr. Dre brush past my arm as he arrived at the Monster Cable press conference. Why not leave me a comment on who you would most like to see at CES, or tell me about your most memorable CES celeb sightings.

I’m certainly not encouraging anyone to adopt stalker-like behavior but the CEA staff who twitter have agreed to tweet their CES celeb sightings – name and location during the show. If you’d like to join in the great twitter celeb hunt please be sure and add #CES09 to your tweet. Oh, and feel free to twitter about the cool electronics stuff too.

During my first CES, I attended the Google keynote, which featured Robin Williams on stage. He’s one of my favorite celebs! Can’t wait to see who makes an appearance at this year’s show!

I’ve gone to the past two CES, and I was in an elevator with 3 Doors Down and got to see Hulk Hogan at an exhibitor booth. Wish I could go this year!

Last year Kevin Costner hugged me! That’s the most up close and personal I’ve gotten to one of the celebs at CES!

Great post – I was hoping Stevie Wonder would be on the show floor. Really looking forward to Diana Ross too – last year Mary J. Blige was amazing at the Monster Awards concert.
