2009 International CES Press Day
January 7, 2009 |Today, the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas was the place to be for the 2009 International CES Press Day. Registered press, analysts and bloggers were privy to all the pre-show announcements from electronics companies like: LG, Monster, Toshiba, Panasonic, Cisco, Sony etc. Most press conferences were packed but fortunately the overflow audience was able to view the conferences live-streamed into the Sands Press Room.
Speaking of the Press Room, it was standing room only. Both the Press Room and the Blogger Lounge at the Sands at the Venetian will be open until 9 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) for your post-Microsoft keynote write-ups.
I snuck into a couple of sessions of the Social Media Jungle conference today and was extremely impressed by how knowledgeable, concise and clear the SMJ Guru speakers were and the obvious engagement level of the audience. I’ve been hearing great things about the SMJ all day and I hope we build on its success for the 2010 CES.
And this evening at 6:30 p.m. Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft Corp. presents his first-ever International CES opening keynote. I’m keen to see how Mr. Ballmer’s style differs from Mr. Gates’. I’m also eager to see what announcements he will make.
Tomorrow (Thursday) is the official opening of the show so rest well tonight. Get out your most comfy shoes, take your vitamins and be prepared to hit the show floor. If you are not lucky enough to be in Vegas with us, I hope you’ll follow us via our website, flickr, twitter and YouTube.
