The 2010 International CES Press Room is Going GREEN
August 5, 2009 |Attention CES exhibitors! Before you start making plans for your 2010 CES press kits, know this: The International CES press kit area is going GREEN this year!
In an effort to reduce our environmental footprint and in response to media feedback, the CES press room will only house electronic exhibitor press kits for 2010. Exhibitors are welcome to bring in a one- page spec sheet that lists media contacts and the URL where their electronic press kit is housed online. USB drives and CDs are also welcome. Printed press materials greater than one page in length should be stored in the exhibitor’s booth.
Last year we strongly encouraged electronic kits, and exhibitors really got creative with their goods! Panasonic printed their press kit URL and media contact information on a 3×5 card (shown in photo) that when planted would sprout marigolds and cosmos after the show!
Recent CES surveys show that 85 percent of media prefer online, USB or CD kits with a one-page spec sheet. It is important to make sure that the press kit is marked clearly with the company’s name and CES booth number for easy reference.

“Yea!…”
I like grabbing things to review later, but sometimes there can be too much stuff. Because netbooks are more popular, I recommend USB drives when possible. (CDs/DVDs, and one-sheets, are also great.)
In the occasions where catalogs are great to promote products, exhibitors can offer to send them to us (press)…and we can request to receive them. (Maybe it’ll be less expensive and wasteful?)
I beg that “soft-docs” (PDFs, DOCs, etcetera) be formatted to be read on monitors: those that are formatted for print/hard-copy can be a chore to view.
